Fairfax Media Offers Fully Integrated Employment Advertising Package

04 August 2008

4 August 2008
– Fairfax Media today announced a comprehensive integrated print and online combined employment advertising package, bringing together the historical strength of The Sydney Morning Herald and MyCareer.com.au in a one-stop product.

Effective today, MyCareer’s advertising packages will be sold by a fully integrated print and digital sales team across NSW. The packages will run simultaneously in Saturday’s Sydney Morning Herald and online at MyCareer.com.au, giving advertisers access to the largest employment audience in NSW.

Brian McCarthy, Deputy Chief Executive Officer Fairfax Media, says, “This is the most significant commercial initiative we have undertaken in Employment in the last decade. Effective today, the print and digital employment sales teams based in Sydney are fully merged to become a single entity selling a combined package. This initiative will enable us to offer the best employment solution in the market to advertisers.”

Mr McCarthy said that the new offer will deliver a combined MyCareer print and digital weekly NSW audience of over 320,000 – significantly more than any other print publication or online employment site.

As well as an increased audience reach, the bundled offering provides a single point of contact for advertisers through a combined sales team, based in Sydney.

Chief Executive Officer Fairfax Digital Jack Matthews comments, “This is a real breakthrough for us in Employment advertising, and gives us a strong competitive position in the market – it exceeds anything our competitors can offer. The bundled packages are competitively priced and offer great value through one point of contact, which is what our customers have been telling us they want. We believe this will be very well received by our customers.”

“The integrated approach has received strong support from all levels within the organisation, and we will run hard with it.”

MyCareer.com.au is viewed by more than 1.25 million job seekers in Australia each month and more than three million readers in rural and regional Australia.^

Fairfax Media Limited is Australasia's leading media company. In May 2007, Fairfax Media and Rural Press Limited completed their merger, creating the largest integrated metropolitan, rural and regional, print and online digital media company in Australasia, with publications and websites in every State and the ACT in Australia, and throughout New Zealand.
