MyCareer.com.au boasts record month for job applications

12 November 2008

Fairfax Digital’s online employment site MyCareer.com.au experienced its highest ever number of candidate applications and a 25% lift in unique browsers* in October.

The record numbers demonstrate the success of extra site features which MyCareer.com.au has created specifically for job seekers over the past year; including Head Hunter, which allows candidates to submit their resumes so companies can approach them directly with relevant positions.

As the employment market tightens, a high and increasing number of MyCareer.com.au site visitors are converting from browsers to applicants.

Nic Cola, Fairfax Digital’s Chief Operating Officer, comments, “MyCareer.com.au has built quality services to attract and support job seekers, and these are being demonstrably relied upon as the job market tightens. Our team continues to focus on attracting superior candidates and matching them with relevant and meaningful jobs.

“In uncertain economic times, candidates turn to the sites which they know and trust to keep them informed of as many relevant opportunities as possible. MyCareer.com.au’s comprehensive functionality gives our candidates an edge to do this – and it’s reflected in the visitor and applicant numbers.”

October is an important time for job seekers because it is before the holiday period, when many employers hold off placing imminent job advertisements until the New Year.

Last month’s jump in applications and browsers extended MyCareer.com.au’s steady growth trajectory over the past 12 months, during which time the number of applications rose 30% and unique browsers increased 19%^.
