Dedicated retail job site launches – jobsinretail.com.au

07 November 2007

Westfield Ltd and MyCareer have worked together to create the first and only website, www.jobsinretail.com.au, that allows jobs seekers to browse for jobs within shopping centres and local areas.

The retail sector is the largest employer in Australia with almost 1.5 million workers, equating to 15 per cent of the working population. Jobs in Retail will streamline the recruitment process, creating a single destination for retailers and job seekers alike. Until now there’s been no easy way for job seekers to connect with Retailers in shopping centres.

Jobs in Retail is an exciting service for both retailers and consumers, connecting people who want to work in retail with the retailers who need them.

Jobs in Retail is solely focused on retail jobs differentiating it from other job sites that have a generic approach and no specific industry focus.

According to the DEWR, retail job numbers in Australia increased by 110,000 in the past five years. Over the next five years the Retail Category is expected to add a further 128,000 jobs. The growth in the sector highlighted the opportunity to add value to the retail category by facilitating the search for suitable employees.

Westfield and MyCareer worked together to deliver the dedicated retail jobs site.

Michelle Vanzella, Westfield’s Director of Business Development said, “Recruitment is one of the key challenges facing our retailers so we are thrilled to launch Jobs in Retail. We know that people look for jobs by location and shopping centres are important employers in local communities.

Tony Blamey, General Manager of MyCareer said, “This site is unlike any other. It has been created for job seekers of all ages across all retail related disciplines. People associate Westfield with retail and MyCareer with jobs - it’s a great fit“

“We worked closely with Westfield to create the ‘Search by Shopping Centre’ function, which I’m proud to say is another market first. At MyCareer we work hard to ensure the user experience is as simple and effective as possible, whilst continually striving to deliver quality candidates to our advertisers.”
