The Local Government and Shires Association (LGSA) of New South Wales together with MyCareer.com.au have announced the creation of an online job site tailored for local government jobseekers.
“People visit our website every day to find out about the services provided by local government in NSW, so having a direct link to council jobs is a perfect match and will be an added bonus to using the site,” said Local Government Association of NSW President Councillor Genia McCaffery.
“The Associations are delighted to be working in partnership with MyCareer.com.au on this project.”
Lisa Watts General Manager of MyCareer added: “This is an exciting opportunity for both organisations to work together to create the LGSA’s first centralised online hub for all local government jobs in NSW.”
“This new site is also about making the job search process easier for jobseekers. They will have access to great MyCareer tools like RSS job feeds and Job Alerts, so they can be notified every hour or every day of new local government positions being posted.”
President of the Shires Association of NSW Councillor Col Sullivan said: “Not only will this new site make it easier to find council jobs, but it will attract skilled workers to the sector. This is important because local government is facing a skills shortage in some fields, and is always looking for talented staff.”
“There are great opportunities in local government with about 50,000 people directly employed by the sector in NSW. We encourage people to log on and take a look.”
Jobs will be accessible through the LGSA (NSW) website in early December: www.lgsa.org.au
