Ever found yourself sending texts or playing games on your mobile phone while waiting for that bus to arrive? From now on your mobile phone will be more than an entertaining gap-filler, it’s now also a job search tool aimed at helping on-the-go jobseekers.
All jobseekers that have a mobile device with web access will now be able to log-on to MyCareer.com.au and browse jobs whenever and wherever they like. No need for a computer, just a mobile phone.
“The way we communicate and do business is changing rapidly, so naturally the way we search for jobs is evolving too. In five years time who knows how many jobseekers will be turning to their mobiles to look for jobs,” said Lisa Watts General Manager of MyCareer.
“O
ver 90 per cent of the Australian population own a mobile phone, plus the number of subscriptions to services like Hutchison’s 3G has doubled in the past year*.
A growing number of people will turn to their mobile phone to look for jobs, so we wanted to be among the first in the world to provide this service.
“Basically any mobile device that has Internet access will allow you to log-on to MyCareer; you can use your mobile phone, PDA (Personal Digital Assistant), PocketPC or Blackberry.
“All you need to do is access the web browser on your mobile device; go to MyCareer.com.au; and start searching for jobs. It’s that simple.
“We don’t charge jobseekers a fee to use this service. Although users should be aware that some mobile service providers may charge. So it’s always best to check with service providers first.
“Job searching via mobile is great because you can access the latest jobs from anywhere, allowing jobseekers to take down details and make contact with prospective employers straight away.”
