FEE-HELP - Higher Education Loans Program
This program allows you to defer the upfront costs of study. You can study now and pay later when you are working. FEE-HELP is the Commonwealth Government's student loan scheme, allowing eligible Australian students to defer their unit fees.
In 2007, you don't make any repayments until your income reaches a threshold of $41,595 per annum. There is no interest charged on FEE-HELP loans, and Open Universities Australia students do not incur a loan fee.
With FEE-HELP:
- It doesn’t matter if you have a previous degree
- Fees can be deferred for undergraduate and postgraduate units as long as you maintain a 50% pass rate after completing eight units
- Choose the percentage of your fees you want to defer - 25, 50, 75 or 100%
- Use FEE-HELP to cover all or part of your university fees
- Study as many units as you want in a year although it’s recommend you study no more than four unit in any study period
- Enrol for the whole year in one FEE-HELP application
- From 1 January 2007, the FEE-HELP limit will be $80,000
Scholarships and Awards
In partnership with seven universities, we offer over $100,000 in scholarships and awards each year for undergraduate and postgraduate study.
Overseas/International Students
An Overseas/International student is any student who is not a domestic student (see definition below). Overseas/International students may hold temporary residency or citizenship in a country other than Australia. Overseas/International students are required to pay an additional $195 above the standard fees quoted for each unit at undergraduate or postgraduate level.
Domestic Students
A domestic student is defined under the Higher Education Support Act 2003 as any student who is an Australian Citizen, a New Zealand citizen or the holder of a permanent visa.
