Follow our lead...

What is leadership? At sanofi-aventis it's not necessarily being the largest or the loudest.

Our Managing Director, Jez Moulding, believes that leadership is “having the best performance, being respected for what you achieve and how you achieve it. Leadership is based on attitude and engagement. It is based on excellent and inspired people working in teams, committed to the sanofi-aventis values. Leadership is based on our ability to optimise our local portfolio; our outstanding stakeholder and customer relationships; and our commitment to a patient-centred sales and business focus throughout the entire organisation."

Driven by our vision of leadership in the Australian and New Zealand pharmaceutical industries, we at sanofi-aventis are working harder, performing stronger and moving faster in the field of health care to bring leading, innovative products to millions of patients and helping to make much-needed treatments more widely accessible.

Our strong growth and performance reflects the abilities and achievements of our people, and we invest accordingly. We offer a challenging and rewarding team environment, professional development and coaching, and we actively promote work-life flexibility. Every person in our business is rewarded for their individual performance and our company performance through a range of innovative reward and recognition initiatives.

Welcome to our business!
Sanofi-aventis is a leading global pharmaceutical company. We have more than 100,000 people working in 100 countries, with 650 people in Australia and New Zealand. Our people work in a variety of different fields including sales and marketing, scientific affairs, clinical research, and many business support functions.

We have a portfolio that is among the pharmaceutical industry's strongest and most promising, especially in our fields of excellence and expertise: thrombosis, cardiometabolic diseases, vaccines, oncology, central nervous system and internal medicine. We invest heavily in R&D and are among the top spenders on R&D globally, investing more than €4.5 billion ($7.3 billion) last year alone, which corresponds to 16.2 per cent of net sales, with the goal of discovering and offering new therapeutic strategies to improve the life of every patient.

With a range of innovative products, over-the-counter (OTC) products, vaccines and generic compounds, in Australia more scripts are written for sanofi-aventis products than for any other company.

How we support our community
For many years, sanofi-aventis has recognised its corporate social responsibilities. We have a global ‘Access to Medicines’ division, which is committed to developing initiatives to combat certain diseases that represent real public health issues in developing countries, and to do so in a sustainable way. For example, we operate a $US25 million ($26 million) partnership with the World Health Organisation (WHO) to help fight the battle to eradicate diseases such as malaria, African sleeping sickness, leishmaniasis and tuberculosis.

Locally, we support many areas of our community and sponsor numerous initiatives. We support Angel Flight Australia, which co-ordinates non-emergency flights for financially disadvantaged people who need medical attention, and we have made a three-year commitment to the Aboriginal Resource Development Service (ARDS) to help reduce the devastating impact of rheumatic fever and rheumatic heart disease on our Aboriginal communities. These conditions cause nearly 3000 deaths each year in Australia despite being almost entirely preventable. We also donate our products to those in need through World Vision and the Overseas Pharmaceutical Aid for Life.

Our true commitment to the local community is also evident through our 'Make a Difference' (MAD) community support program. This program provides individuals within our company with the opportunity to undertake community service abroad and take one month’s leave on full pay to work in a local or overseas disadvantaged area of their choice. All our employees are also offered one paid day per year to participate in corporate volunteering projects.
