ASCASC

ASC is building and maintaining Australia’s frontline naval defence capabilities. As home to the nation’s largest repository of high-end naval design and engineering skills, we are committed to providing opportunities for the nation’s next generation of engineering talent through its Graduate Program.

ASC successfully built Australia’s fleet of Collins Class submarines and, in doing so, established ourselves as a leader in the nation’s defence industry. We have two multi-billion dollar long term projects — through-life support design upgrades and maintenance services for the Collins Class submarine fleet, and shipbuilder for three highly complex and lethal air warfare destroyers.

Our requirements

ASC will be recruiting around 14 graduates to join ASC’s 2010 Graduate Program. The majority of the graduates will be located at our Osborne facility with opportunities to rotate across our Air Warfare Destroyer (AWD) Program as well as our Western Australian maintenance operations. All applicants must be eligible to obtain an Australian Defence Security Clearance, with successful applicants being offered a permanent full-time position upon the successful completion of the two-year program.

Your development

ASC provides a two-year graduate rotation program which ensures maximum exposure to all departments as well as ASC’s core business activities. A 3-4 month placement in Western Australia forms an interesting (but not mandatory) part of the Graduate Program. Graduates based in Western Australia will experience a similar rotation structure in Adelaide.

We recognise the value young engineers bring to the company, with every effort made during the rotation to grow and develop graduates. In addition to providing
meaningful and challenging work, we provide a formal and well-structured mentoring program to assist graduates’ induction into ASC, and facilitate progression towards Chartered Professional Engineering status.

Development and training needs are regularly reviewed, with additional training offered to develop leadership and management skills, as well as adding to graduates’ technical understanding.

Formal review processes ensure graduates receive regular performance feedback throughout the program, with career path options discussed in detail.

Application details

All applications for ASC’s Graduate Program must be lodged online via ASC’s website:
