From fighter aircraft and Navy ships to soldier systems, the Defence Materiel Organisation (DMO) is one of Australia’s largest program management, logistics and engineering services organisations. The DMO’s mission is to acquire and sustain equipment for the Australian Defence Force (ADF).
Big projects
The DMO manages many of the largest and most demanding projects in Australia. The ADF relies on the DMO to provide its equipment on time, on budget and to the required levels of quality and safety — the ADF’s operational success depends on us.
With over 230 major and 180 minor projects and over 7000 people working in over 40 locations in Australia and overseas, there is a huge variety of fascinating work.
Big budgets
If the DMO were a private company it would be one of the largest on the Australian Stock Exchange. It has an annual budget of over $9 billion, and will manage over $100 billion worth of acquisition and sustainment business over the next 10 years. This includes Navy ships and submarines, fighter aircraft, Army combat vehicles and electronic warfare systems.
Big opportunities
The Materiel Graduate Scheme (MGS) provides you with the opportunity to use the skills you have acquired at university while building on your personal learning and experiences to develop into a highly-regarded professional. Your work will contribute to nationally significant projects supporting the ADF that are complex and highly valued.
The 18-month MGS consists of three work rotations incorporating both on and off the job learning and development including assistance to achieve industry based professional recognition.
Our Materiel Cadetship Scheme (MCS) (undergraduates) provides real life work experience and financial support while you complete university.
The DMO is committed to the professional development of its people and all relevant development is centrally funded by the organisation. The DMO Institute, a virtual corporate university, offers learning and development from practitioner through to postgraduate level in all key DMO disciplines. You will have real opportunities for career development and advancement. The DMO appreciates the value of balancing work with your other interests.
