Altitude @ DSD: Our Mission is to ‘Reveal Their Secrets – Protect Our Own’. Our mission tells a lot about what we do. Defence Signals Directorate (DSD) is part of the Department of Defence, provides whole of government services, and sits within the Australian Intelligence Community (AIC).

DSD is the national agency responsible for the collection, analysis and distribution of foreign signals intelligence and is the national authority on communications and computer security.

The work we perform is dynamic, unique, critical and incredibly rewarding. The Altitude @ DSD program is a rotation based development and training program designed to kick off an amazing and diverse career. The program is seeking graduates with strong academic records from a wide range of disciplines to commence the program via one of three career entry pathways, including Analyst, Technologist and Business.

An Analyst at DSD will undertake sophisticated analysis, producing vital intelligence and security information for the Australian government by undertaking activities such as analysis of foreign signals, intelligence reporting, communications analysis, foreign language translation or solving cryptological problems using advanced mathematical concepts.

A Technologist at DSD will use specialist skills to make a vital contribution to the security of Australia. Career paths include work in Computer Network and Cyber Operations, Cryptology, Information Security, Electronic Intelligence, Applications Development and Support, Information and Communication Technology, Project Management, Survey, Signal and Protocol Analysis, and Systems Engineering.

A Business professional at DSD plays a critical role in supporting the internal infrastructure of one of the largest Commonwealth organisations within the Australian Intelligence Community. Candidates deliver strategic and operational support across the organisation, undertaking roles in human resources, training, financial management, marketing, public relations and provide integral support to government via corporate policy, communications and governance activities.
