How can I inactivate my MyCareer Head Hunter account?

If you would like to discontinue using MyCareer Head Hunter at this time and may wish to use it again in the future, we suggest inactivating your account as follows to avoid having to recreate your online interview in the future.

1.  Log in to MyCareer Head Hunter

2.  Click on the My Jobs navigation. Click Edit next to Matching Status and click Inactivate.

3.  Log back in with your Fairfax Digital account to reactivate your account at any time in the future.

If you would like to delete your MyCareer Head Hunter online information entirely (you will not be able to reactivate it in the future) please contact us with your request to permanently delete your details and a customer service representative will confirm when this has been done.

How does MyCareer Head Hunter address privacy and security?

First, we allow you to create an alias to keep your name confidential. When you use an alias, employers will not see your name, email address or phone number until you have released that information to them.

Second, you may mark the names of companies where you worked as ‘confidential.’

Employers using MyCareer Head Hunter cannot search and can only see people who match their job criteria. This provides additional privacy to you. Also, MyCareer Head Hunter does not sell candidate details to any third parties.

When you submit this resume for any job (whether it is an employer you learned about on MyCareer  or elsewhere) you can track who views it. The company name of the employer who reads it will appear in your Tracking Centre in the Who’s Been Looking at Me? section.

Please note that MyCareer Head Hunter also offers you other features in addition to the job matching referenced above. You may want to use your account to create a Professional Page to share your work history and career preferences with employers.

Why do you ask for my Instant Messenger address?

MyCareer Head Hunter wants you to be reachable by employers how and when you prefer - via email, phone, or even instant messaging (IM). IM is discreet and immediate, enabling candidates and employers to dramatically reduce the time it takes to connect with one another for an initial conversation.

If you elect to use this feature, employers on MyCareer Head Hunter can see when you’re logged into your IM service, and can open an IM dialogue with you (if they have access to your particular messenger service). From this chat session you can indicate your interest and schedule a time to speak directly with the employer or schedule an interview.

You have the ability to control this feature. Only employers can see when candidates are online, candidates do not have the ability to see when employers are online. Only employers can start an IM session with candidates.
