What are the deadlines for booking newspaper ads?

These vary according to which publication and classification you are placing your ad in. See deadlines for The Age or The Sydney Morning Herald.

Can I alter my newspaper ad once it has been booked?

You can edit a newspaper ad before the deadline is reached. Click on the “My Ads” tab above the red line to see all your ads. Then on the “Edit” button next to the ad you want to change. You cannot edit a newspaper ad once the deadline has been reached.

Can I cancel my newspaper ad?

You can cancel a newspaper ad before it reaches deadline by logging into your account. Click on the “My Ads” tab above the red line to see all your ads. Then on the “Cancel” button next to the ad you want to cancel.

You cannot cancel a newspaper ad once it has reached the deadline.

Can I put a logo in my newspaper ad?

You will first need to register your logo with the newspaper. See How do I register a logo?

Once registered, you will receive a logo number which can be inserted into the website when placing your ad. Alternatively, you can use one of our standard logos.

Can I cancel an ad halfway through a 2 or 3 day buy?

Yes you can cancel the remaining days of the print run by clicking on “My Ads” then on “Cancel”.

How do I register a logo?

General
To get a logo number you must first register your logo. On successful registration, your logo number will be emailed to you within 3-7 days, which you can then use in the future placement of newspaper ads. This logo will NOT appear in the ad you are currently placing.

How to Register Your Logo:

  1. Ensure that your logo has been prepared in the correct format as outlined here for the Age and here for the SMH.
  2. Email the prepared logo along with your contact details to the relevant publication:
NB: If you wish to use this logo in an ad in both The Age and The Sydney Morning Herald, you will need to register it with both The Sydney Morning Herald and The Age.

 

Logo Pricing

  • Logos for The Sydney Morning Herald are priced at the equivalent of 8 single or double column lines plus a logo charge of $3.03 (incl gst) each time any logo is used. There is no set up charge for your own logo.
  • Logos for The Age are priced according to their depth . (Refer to lineage chart page 2 of The Age Logo Specification PDF or contact The Age logo dept on (03) 9601 2337). There is an initial set-up fee of $38.50 (incl gst) per logo. After that you only pay for whatever lineage your logo takes up (adverts that use colour logos also incur a colour loading).
